Save the National Coach Museum and Archeology and Cordage National Monument!

Dear Gentlemen,
.
President of the Portuguese Republic, Professor Aníbal Cavaco Silva
President of Assembly of the Republic, Jaime Gama
Prime Minister, Mr. José Sócrates
Mayor of Lisbon, António Costa
.
The National Coach Museum is the genesis of the monarchy was the republic, which acquired the status of museum organization, becoming the founding institution of museology Portuguese, with a national and international profile.
.
The artistic value of the space (former Royal Riding School), the rarity of his collection (generally considered as the most remarkable of its kind, with special emphasis on the monumental three coaches of the Embassy of John V to Pope Clement XI, built in Rome in 1716 and unique in the world, as well as the Rare Traveling Coach of Philip II, built in Spain - XVI-XVII century - and one of the models of the oldest coach as is known), and the system developed exposure of the latter correlating it with pictures and paintings from time secured him a European reputation unparalleled in the history of Portuguese museums and in the evolution of museology, through a strategic guided by principles pioneered modern Europeans, creating an environment of care and work that the Republicans prided themselves.
.
The project appeared however to build a new museum Coach wants to dump the existing building and transfer the collection to a new space to be built, where now stands the General Workshop of Engineering Equipment, which will be demolished. While not questioning the quality of architectural design, it is estimated, however, that this project will have an estimated current cost of 31.5 million.
.
Given the current magnitude of the international National Coach Museum, which is the most visited museum in Portugal, most significantly by aliens who will not be indifferent to the dignity and the space environment present value of outstanding formal and seniority.
Note that it is no accident that in St. Petersburg was chosen recently by placing a collection like the old barn real;
.
Whereas the current Museum building, in and of technical and artistic (see for technical advice from the late 90's), is unable to host the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, and it was feared, therefore, should continue the planned new museum their utilization;
.
Whereas the draft of the new museum does not affect only the Museu Nacional dos Coches, but is a real 'earthquake' rebound effect in museology national because it will entail an obligation to move the services of former IPA (now IGESPAR) of underwater archeology deposit of industrial heritage, for the National Cordage, and in this way, any transfer from the National Archaeological Museum in the same Cordage, which is a National Monument since 1996 (DL 2 / 96, DR 56, 06/03/1996 );
.
Whereas the law requires that an intervention in a national monument, such as the National Cordage, is based on a draft conservation and restoration and allows the preservation of their architectural and integrated technical, not allowing them to make a simple adjustment as seems to be the case, which prefigured the attitude of vandalism of State;
.
Therefore, considering the ongoing project regard it as completely unnecessary and prevents their funds are applied in cultural projects of real public action (eg replacement of other national museums based in Lisbon, MN recovery in danger of disqualification under UNESCO, National Cordage qualification, as a monument of significant technical activity Portuguese maritime, etc.). .
The undersigned require Excellencies swift action to halt the ongoing project of the new museum of carriages, thus ensuring the maintenance, in the current areas, the National Coach Museum and National Museum of Archeology and preservation of physical integrity and original technique Cordoaria as a national monument of international interest.
